  • ensure tables are at a comfortable and appropriate height

All letters start fromt he top except for d and e which start in the middle

Letter formation

Focus on the correct way to sit, who to hold pencil and form letters for both upper and lower case letters. Follow the pattern of anti clockwise letters, clockwise and downstroke letters then cover numbers

Make it fun. Use

  • Jelly crystals on a tray

  • Shaving cream

  • Milo/Quik

  • Let them write in textas, crayons, chalk

  • Play dough

  • With water an paintbrush on bricks outside

  • Whiteboard marker on glass panel of window, tiles or mirror

 

Fine motor – use lacing cards, stress balls, pegs, construction such as lego

Wrist, hand and finger warms ups are key. Make up yout own or if you happen to be a member of Pevan and Sarah they have ‘Finger Gym’ warms ups too that the younger infants enjoy.
